Horse Chestnut (Aasculus hippocastanum):
Suggested uses: Varicose veins
Strengthens the veins and makes them less porous.
Increases blood
flow and decreases inflammation. Tested and used in Europe for
treatment of varicose veins. In general, escins (thought to be the
most active ingredient in a saponin mixture) are thought to act as anti-exudative
and anti-inflammatory agents, decreasing vascular permeability and thus
preventing edema formation. in vitro studies have shown that
escins increase venous tone of isolated animal saphenous veins.
Most randomized controlled clinical trials use a standardized HSCE
preparation containing 50mg of escins given twice daily.
While horse chestnut pollen is allergenic in sensitized individuals,
oral HCSE appears to be well tolerated.
Natural Fish Oil (Omega 3-marine triglycerides):
Omega 3 includes linoleic and gamma-linolenic acid. EFA's are
needed by almost every cell in the body. They are necessary for
production and renewing cells, producing prostaglandins which are
necessary for many body functions, including prevention of blood clots.
Evening Primrose (Oenotherabiennis):
An excellent source of gamma-linolenic acid (essential fatty acids)
which are recommended for many health problems. Suggested for all types
of skin disorders.
Evening Primrose seeds are rich in two polyunsaturated fatty
acids: Linoleic (LA) and gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Evening
Primrose Oil is the only substantial source of GLA which has various
helpful uses inside the body - such as, PCE1, an essential prostaglandin
that needs GLA to be produced. GLA is also converted to DGLA,
dihomogammalenolenic acid, which is converted into PGE. These
fatty acids are good fats that assist in the building blocks of the cell
structure. EPO has also been found to increase the elasticity of
the skin that surrounds and protects every cell.
Juniper Berry (Juniperus commmunis):
Suggested as a diuretic for water retention. Because of this mild
diuretic effect, possible relief of mild swelling due to excess fluid
retention can be obtained.
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica):
Suggested for improving circulation. This herb enhances the
development of the normal connective tissue structures. And the
breaking down of these connective tissue structures is one of the major
contributors to cellulite.
Grape Seed (Vitis vinifera):
Helps prevent loss of collagen elasticity, it smooths the skin and helps
to fight wrinkles. Helps heal psoriasis, age spots, skin cancers
and sun spots. Grape seed has long been known to increase
circulation by increasing the movement of blood through the tiny
capillaries throughout the body. By this action, it has the
potential to revive those areas that have been fat-choked, like those
cellulite regions so commonly seen.
Ginkgo Biloba:
Increases blood flow and suggested for many problems related to
circulation. This herb has long been known and studies to help
increase blood flow to those small capillaries that have the potential
to be blocked off by excess fat.
Sweet Yellow Clover (Melilotus officinalis):
Contains flavonoids which have a wide range of actions. They are
anti-inflammatory and are especially useful in maintaining healthy
circulation. It is also a mild sedative providing relief of mild
anxiety, insomnia and sleeplessness.
